Over the last few weeks we've been introducing the people behind Omaha Birth Connection. Today we'll hear from one of our birth doulas who has decided to be a part of Omaha Birth Connection, Jamie Stull.
What is the best gift you can give a new mom (as a Doula)?
Support! I know it is said a lot but know I do not say it lightly. I am a mom myself and having a doula to text through pregnancy, to be there every minute of the labor and the knowledge I gained postpartum was priceless. I never got more anxious than I needed to because I had an incredible support team around me. So, if I can give a mom what I received I have given them the perfect gift.
What led you to become a Doula?
At age 17 I was lucky enough to be a part of my niece’s birth and I literally have never been the same since that moment. It is addicting. I have never been able to talk about that story without getting emotional. Birth is the most beautiful and miraculous event I have ever witnessed.
What thoughts come to mind when you see a pregnant woman or brand new mom?
I smile and think she is the coolest person in the surrounding area. Who else’s body is carrying a life or just had the most profound year of her life!
What is your favorite TV show or movie?
TV Shows are How I Met your Mother, Friends and Parenthood (I am not a crier but parenthood gets me at least every other episode). Movies are Across the Universe, Pride and Prejudice, Little Woman and all Harry Potter films (books are even better though).
What is your favorite place to vacation?
Anywhere with a beach and friends or a campfire and friends would be ideal and combining all of them would be and is heaven.
What is your favorite food?
Chocolate! (Really wish this wasn’t the truth)
